The Sheridan Avenue rehabilitation project is within a month of its conclusion, after a year of intense work to completely overhaul the road, sidewalks, and crosswalks.
2021 threw numerous construction delays at the road crews. But sudden snowstorms and subzero temperatures weren’t enough to slow things down.

Trees down, power out to thousands as storms rip through central Alabama

A powerful storm that triggered at least one tornado warning across the River Region has left about 55,000 residents without power in central Alabama.
Michael Jordan, spokesman for Alabama Power, said about 93,000 customers statewide are without power.
According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, the storms knocked down multiple trees on Interstate 65 near mile marker 197 in Autauga County.
Widespread reports of trees down and trees on homes were coming in from Autauga and Elmore counties but as of about 7:30 p.m. authorities were reporting no injuries. Autauga County was under a severe thunderstorm warning when the line rumbled through Prattville about 6 p.m. Eastern Elmore and northern Montgomery counties underwent a tornado warning a few minutes later.

One home on Till Street in Prattville was reported to be struck by lightning.
