Oxygen supply was disrupted due to low pressure.
Thirteen COVID-19 patients died after oxygen supply was disrupted due to poor pressure in the oxygen tank at the Chengalpattu Government Hospital in Tamil Nadu late on Tuesday.
Confirming the death of the 13 patients on Wednesday, J. Muthukumaran, Dean of the hospital, said oxygen was available in the tank from which it was supplied to more than 300 patients admitted to the COVID-19 ward, but it did not have sufficient pressure.
District administration warns brick kilns against illegal operation

The district administration has warned operators of brick kilns/chambers in five village panchayats in Thadagam valley of taking legal action for illegal operation.
The move comes a day after the Madras High Court set aside the order issued by the Coimbatore North Tahsildar to close down brick kilns in the valley.
The court on Friday held that the Tahsildar was not empowered to order the closure of brick kilns and directed the District Collector to pass appropriate orders on the issue within four weeks after hearing the brick kiln owners.

Hyderabad, May 1 : Vigilance and Enforcement officials in Telangana on Saturday began probe into allegations against Health Minister Eatala Rajender that he encroached the lands of farmers in Medak district.
A day after Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao ordered the probe, the investigating officials descended on Achampet and Hakimpet villages to survey the land of Jamuna Hatcheries belonging to the minister and surrounding assigned lands of farmers.
They formed teams to conduct digital survey of the lands, gather details from the victims and to check the land records.

Drawing officials from the Departments of Public Health, Revenue, Police and Local Administration, Collector G. S. Sameeran has formed 10 teams to monitor the execution of COVID-19 norms in areas under their jurisdiction and send reports to their higher-ups on a daily basis so as to take immediate corrective measures.
Chairing a review meeting held here on Saturday, he said the monitoring teams, which had been formed to ensure the scrupulous implementation of COVID-19 norms in the areas under their jurisdiction, should send their reports to the Revenue Divisional Officer concerned every day. The monitoring teams should ensure disinfection of the public buildings and other public places in their areas every day.

Following stiff opposition from farmers to carrying out works to renovate and modernise the Lower Bhavani Project (LBP) main canal at ₹709.60 crore, the district administration has halted the commencement of works till May 5.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Coimbatore on February 25 laid the foundation stone for the extension, renovation and modernisation of LBP irrigation system at a total cost of ₹933.10 crore. While package I to IV covers LBP main canal, package V covers Kalingarayan Canal and package VI covers Thadappalli and Arakkankottai Canals.
