Private organisations to recruit nurses for COVID-19 treatment

Updated: Share Article AAA The Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Coimbatore, Race Course and Neighbourhood Association, PSG Hospitals, and corporate companies in Coimbatore have come forward to appoint nurses on temporary basis at the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital and ESI Hospital here. According to C. Balasubramanian, president of the Chamber, the plan is to appoint about 50 nurses for nearly three months at the two hospitals. PSG Hospitals will provide food and accommodation to the nurses free of cost. They will be given transport, too, to the workplaces. With a surge in COVID-19 cases here, there is a need for more nurses and sanitary workers at the two hospitals. Since, appointment of nurses will have to be done by the government and that is a long process, the organisations came forward to select and recruit nurses on a temporary basis.

Rs 6,683cr allocated for city metro rail project | Coimbatore News

Coimbatore: In a huge pre-poll bonanza for the district, deputy chief minister O Panneerselvam allocated Rs 6,683 crore for the metro rail project in the interim budget that was tabled on Tuesday. The fund allocation comes almost three years after he announced the metro rail project for the district in the assembly. He said a detailed feasibility report for setting up the metro rail for about 44km at a cost of Rs 6,683 crore in the first phase was already prepared and the same was under scrutiny. A source privy to the project said five corridors, covering a total distance of 144km, have been proposed and preparation of a detailed project report was underway.

It is developed by Coimbatore-based Siruthuli, an environmental NGO, and Perur Chettipalayam Village Panchayat at a 1.5 acre reserve site in Pachapalayam.

Coimbatore: The SPB Vanam project, which was launched on October 16 on the campus of the NGO Siruthuli, was officially started at a reserve site at Pachapalayam on Thursday. The land was allotted by Perur Chettipalayam panchayat. The initiative was launched by actor and Green Kalam founder Vivekh, who along with Siruthuli trustee Vanitha Mohan, planted the first tree sapling. The 1.8-acre site will house 74 trees to commemorate 74 years of the singer’s life. The Officers’ Colony Association of Pachapalayam has come forward to maintain the SPB Vanam and make it a unique model of community participation. The SPB Vanam will have trees that are used for musical instruments, the ones with fragrant flowers and sthala vrikshams of the temples that SPB had visited and sung. An ayilyam tree would also be planted to represent the singer’s birth star.
