New Delhi: The Railway Ministry has announced that India s first semi-high speed, engine-less train service of Vande Bharat Express from New Delhi to Varanasi will run with Tejas Express rake for quite some time as the rake of the New Delhi-Varanasi-New Delhi Vande Bharat Express train will go for its maintenance of necessary safety over hauling work.

Vande Bharat Express, which runs between New Delhi and Varanasi, is going to be renamed now. Vande Bharat Express will be run as Tejas Express from February 15 to March 31.
In 2019, the first indigenously built semi-high speed train was flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In a letter dated February 10, Northern Railway stated, The Railway Board has given permission to run the New Delhi-Varanasi-New Delhi Vande Bharat Express (New Delhi-Varanasi Vande Bharat) from February 15 to March 31.
The train will be operated by the Indian Railways only and that there will be a little difference in the fares as the revised fares will be lesser than Vande Bharat Express. The Vande Bharat Express was dedicated to the nation by Modi on February 15, 2019.

These rakes would be made at three production units of railways â 24 at the ICF in Chennai, 10 at Rail Coach Factory in Kapurthala and the remaining 10 at Modern Coach Factory in Raebareli, as per the contract.
After 22 months of launching Vande Bharat Express for Katra, Indian Railways has awarded the prestigious contract for manufacturing of 44 more such trains at an estimated cost of Rs 2,211 crore.
In what could be described as a major push to the Make in India initiative, the Hyderabad-based Medha Servo Drives bagged the contract for making 44 Vande Bharat trains with 16 coaches each.
