While the temperatures may not be in the minus 30s and COVID-19 cases have come down significantly since March in Thunder Bay, the lives of people considered part of the vulnerable population in the city are still at risk.
It filled unmet needs in the community, but Friday is the last day for the care bus in Thunder Bay, Ont.
The care bus filled a lot of unmet needs in Thunder Bay, Ont., by providing a safe, warm place for people in need as shelters and warming centres hit capacity throughout the winter, said NorWest Community Health Centre s chief executive officer Juanita Lawson.

A smartphone app designed to prevent overdoses has been launched in Thunder Bay.
The CEO of Lifeguard Digital Health Jeff Hardy tells us his product is in use in British Columbia, and has already been effective.
“To date, we have saved 33 lives and have had countless, call it revivals or assistance for help,” explains Hardy.
Once downloaded on a phone, a timer on the app can be set in motion by the opioid user, which sends out an alarm at selected intervals to keep that person alert.
It also provides a direct link to emergency responders if an overdose occurs.
