In memoriam: Alison Al Damon Tuesday, July 6, 2021 11:23 AM
Former Business Publications Corp. inside sales specialist Alison Damon died last week after years of battling cancer. Damon retired this spring after many years as a dedicated BPC team member, including being the first person to welcome many patrons into the office and corresponding with audience members. Even with her health declining, Damon contributed work from her apartment through the entire pandemic, saying that the company’s work kept her going. A celebration of life is being planned for sometime in September.
Hy-Vee partners with national distributors for End Summer Hunger campaign Friday, July 2, 2021 10:37 AM Hy-Vee Inc. will partner with Kellog’s, Keurig Dr Pepper and Chobani for the second year of its End Summer Hunger campaign, providing meals to families through the Feeding America network of food banks. Through July, every qualifying purchase made at a Hy-Vee grocery store will contribute to a minimum $100,000 donation guaranteed by Hy-Vee, up to a maximum $150,000 donation. During the school year, 22 million children in the U.S. have access to free or reduced-cost meals at school, but fewer than 4 million children receive similar meals through USDA Summer Food Service programs. Artist Ray Bubba Sorensen II will travel to four Hy-Vee stores across the company’s region and paint murals to illustrate hunger in the U.S. in mid-July.
