The Mandan Art Association held its 38th Annual Art Show this week at the Mandan Community Center. This yearâs honorees were Caroline Conrath, a charter member of the association, and her brother, the late Ted Conrath. The show also displayed more than 400 pieces of artwork, representing 92 adult exhibitors and 73 high school students. Painting demonstrators were Stephanie Delmore, Susan Lundberg and Amy Stuart McNalley. According to Colette Meidinger, MAA president, special thanks go to Mandanâs Boy Scout Troop 54 for delivering, setting up, tearing down and returning to storage, the display boards used for exhibiting the art pieces.

Milton Smith, a former Worshipful Master of the Presque Isle lodge and 50-year Mason, died on Saturday, March 17. He was 76.
Milton Smith, a former Worshipful Master of the Presque Isle lodge and 50-year Mason, died on Saturday, March 17. He was 76.
Presque Isle saddened by loss of beloved community leader Milt Smith loved to fly. Like the most agile of birds, he’d soar near the clouds, taking in the long-distance view of the community he loved and served. Sometimes in his single-engine fixed-wing plane and sometimes in the Hopper, the one-man balloon he built, Milt Smith could momentarily step back from his busy world to look and listen before he was back on the ground, running.
Sam Clark
The following is taken from our obituaries section SAM Clark, husband of the later Vera, died on New Year’s Eve at Belong Nursing home, age 92. At the age of 18, he joined the Royal Marines to do his national service. He met Vera and they later married in 1947 at Christ Church Padgate. They were married for 65 years until Vera died suddenly in 2012. Sam and Vera owned Clarks House of Flowers on Padgate Lane for 40 years and and were active Interflora members and had many friends within Interflora. They lived at The Clough, Halfacre Lane for 40 years and owned horses for the grandchildren. Sam had his own pony and trap .
