Stray dog caught mauling girl’s dead body in Uttar Pradesh
All the bodies recovered from the Ganga river in Ghazipur and Ballia districts were cremated and investigation has been initiated to find out where the bodies had been immersed in the river.
Ballia district Magistrate Aditi Singh said that Sub-divisional Magistrate Sadar and Circle Officer Sadar spearheaded a search operation on reports of decayed bodies piling under Ballia-Buxar bridge in the Ganga under Narahi police station area.
The official, however, did not reveal the exact number of bodies found. The bodies were found floating on the river on Monday evening and officials found decayed dead bodies in large numbers near Ujiyar and Bharauli under Narahi police station of Ballia.

Jhansi : , May 4 (IANS) A PPS (Provincial Police Service) officer, Manish Sonkar, posted as Circle Officer Sadar in Jhansi, has tendered his resignation, saying that he was denied leave to look after his wife who is Covid positive.
The couple has a young daughter and no one to look after her.
Sonkar told reporters that he tendered his resignation to the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jhansi, Rohan P. Kanay but did not elaborate the details.
SSP Jhansi, however, said that he was initially informed about the matter on WhatsApp and later on, he received the hard copy of the resignation which he forwarded to his superiors.
