Two injured, driver charged after utility vehicle flips in McHenry   Updated 7/26/2021 3:33 PM A utility terrain vehicle crash Friday in McHenry sent two to the hospital, police said Monday. McHenry police and the McHenry Township Fire Protection District were called shortly after 4:30 p.m. Friday to the 4500 block of Lakewood Road about a single-vehicle crash involving a UTV, according to police.   Officers arrived to find the driver of a UTV had lost control and flipped the vehicle, which had five occupants. Two of the passengers were hospitalized, police said. One was taken to Northwestern Medicine McHenry Hospital with injuries that were not life threatening. The second injured passenger initially was taken to the same hospital but later flown to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with serious, but not life threatening injuries.

Jiffy Lube crash victim identified   Updated 7/19/2021 5:12 PM A 29-year-old Crystal Lake man has been identified as the Jiffy Lube employee who died Friday after he was hit by an SUV leaving the McHenry business vehicle service bay. Joseph Majko was taken to Northwestern Medicine McHenry Hospital, where he died from his injuries, the McHenry County coroner s office said in a news release Monday.   Officers and firefighters responded at 12:11 p.m. Friday to the Jiffy Lube at 1807 N. Richmond Road. The driver, a 91-year-old woman, was not injured and was released from the scene after an investigation. The McHenry County Regional Crash Assistance Team continues to investigate. The McHenry Police Department asks anyone with information to call its criminal investigation division at (815) 363-2599. Anonymous information can be provided by calling the McHenry Police Department s tip line at (815) 363-2124, which does not use caller ID.

But as students return to school this fall, many may still be required to wear masks. A group of parents is rallying to change that, protesting and creating Facebook groups to get rid of the mask mandate.
