WATERBURY â Naugatuck Valley Community College, in collaboration with the Northwest Regional Workforce Investment Board, is offering a new Basic Manufacturing Certificate course, a strong credential for local manufacturing jobs.
Students may qualify for tuition-free enrollment, which runs 170 hours from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Mondays and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays, September 8 though December 20.
Theâ¯curriculum includes Manufacturing Math, Blueprint Reading, Metrology, OSHA 10, Bench Work and Machine Technology.
This course may be taken by students who are interested in starting a career in manufacturing as well as workers who are looking to build their skills to a higher level.

WATERBURY, CT - Connecticut Workforce & High-Tech Industry Skills Partnership (CT-WHISP)
is looking for potential students to support the development and expansion of a talent pipeline of Connecticut workers in Information Technology (IT). Naugatuck Valley Community College in partnership with the Northwest Regional Workforce Investment Board is offering grant-funded, short-term (15 weeks) IT course clusters aligned with industry certifications and supportive services as part of this initiative. Clusters include Networking, Programming, Systems, Software and Project Management. Each IT cluster has been mapped to Microsoft and/or CompTIA certifications.
