Two persons were arrested on Wednesday on the charge of poaching in Kondimoola forest under the Appapara forest station limits of the North Wayanad forest division.
The accused were identified as Musthafa, 45, of Dwaraka near Mananthavady and P.M. Shafeer, 30, of Padikkathody at Ambalavayal in the district.
The officials seized a country-made gun, pellets, knife, and venison of barking deer (Cervus unicolor) weighing 80 kg from them.
The accused will be produced in the First Class Judicial Magistrate Court at Mananthavady.

Officials of the North Wayanad forest division on Saturday shifted a tiger captured from a human habitat at Vellarippalam in the district to the Thrissur zoo.
The tiger, aged about 10 years, which triggered panic among local residents at Ozhakkody, Muthirery, and Makkikolly under the forest division, was captured on Wednesday.
Under observation
The animal, identified as a resident of the Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary, was under observation at the forest Inspection bungalow at Thirunelly.

10-year-old big cat had triggered panic after it killed a cow A tiger that triggered panic among local residents in the Ozhakkody, Muthirery and Makkikolly areas near Tavinhal under the North Wayanad forest division was captured from a human settlement on Wednesday morning.
The tiger, aged about 10 years, had triggered panic for the past three days after it killed a cow. Its capture has come as relief to the villagers.
A forest team, led by North Wayanad divisional forest officer Remesh Bishnoy, set up a trap at Vellarippalam on Tuesday and the animal walked into it on Wednesday.
