India’s Space Exploration Needs Immediate Overhaul As Russia-China Prepare Counter For US-led Artemis Accords by Chaitanya Giri - Apr 23, 2021 02:49 PM ISRO integrating Chandrayaan-2 modules. (ISRO) Snapshot A recent treaty between China and Russia makes it plain for India that leaving space exploration to a few science aficionados can be dangerous. India needs a national space exploration strategy with tangible economic and meta-strategic goals in sight. The People’s Republic of China celebrates its National Space Day on 24 April every year. Northrop Grumman Robotic MEV-2 Spacecraft, in a First, Catches Active Intelsat Satellite

The companies hit a milestone in the growing business of servicing satellites while in space. Today s successful docking of our second Mission Extension Vehicle further demonstrates the reliability, safety and utility of in-space logistics, Tom Wilson, vice president of Northrop Grumman s strategic space systems said in a statement. The success of this mission paves the way for our second generation of servicing satellites and robotics, offering flexibility and resiliency for both commercial and government satellite operators, which can enable entirely new classes of missions. Starlink seeks link to planes, trucks and other moving vehicles

Even as Starlink pushes toward a commercial launch of its fixed broadband satellite service, its parent company, SpaceX, is also pursuing a plan to connect Starlink s network to trucks, planes, ships and other types of relatively large moving vehicles. Starlink s mobile-facing interests were outlined in an application for blanket-licensed Earth Stations in Motion, or ESIMs, filed on March 5 with the FCC. SpaceX believes authorization for a new class of ground-based components that would expand the range of broadband options available to moving vehicles would serve the public interest. This application takes the next step by seeking authority for ESIMs that will enable the extension of that network from homes and offices to vehicles, vessels, and aircraft, David Goldman, SpaceX s director of satellite policy, explained.
