Laurel County Sheriff John Root says Lieut. Chris Edwards made an arrest while investigating a complaint that a man had provided marijuana to 2 juveniles ages 12 and 15 on two separate occasions. Allegedly 20-year-old Cameron Vanhook had picked the juveniles up from the home of the 12-year-old without the knowledge or permission of the parents of either child. Vanhook was arrested and charged with four counts of unlawful transaction with a minor – second-degree. He was lodged in the Clay County Detention Center. Assisting on the investigation was Sheriff John Root, Detective Taylor McDaniel and Detective Robert Reed.

Laurel County Sheriff John Root says he and Lieut. Chris Edwards along with Maj. Chuck Johnson, Detective Richard Dalrymple, Detective Bryon Lawson, Detective Taylor McDaniel, Detective Robert Reed and Detective James Sizemore went to a home on Scott Street with a search warrant, after receiving disturbing information from social services. They told police that allegedly 27-year-old Jessica Odell and her boyfriend, 22-year-old Trevor Collins had subjected Odell’s nine-year-old girl to sexual intercourse and sodomy. When officers arrived they found Odell and Collins, along with a large amount of suspected meth, baggies, pipes, and multiple electronic and sexual aid devices. Both were arrested and charged with rape, sodomy and the trafficking and possession of drugs. Odell and Collins were lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
