At 3:27 p.m. Sunday, city officers responded to the 900 block of North Penn Street for a report that a 19-year-old man assaulted a 9-year-old riding a new 2021 SSR dirt bike in the North Lavan Street alley and stole the motorcycle, court papers say.
The child, who was allegedly struck in the head by Jordan Manuel Rarick of Allentown and fell from the bike, suffered a cut to his head that required staples to shut, authorities said. The child did not know Rarick and did not give him permission to ride the dirt bike, police said.

Like many American boys in the 1970s and 1980s, Steve Novotney of Wheeling, West Virginia, had a paper route.
His bicycle, carting ink-stained sheets of print in bags strapped on the handlebars, has vanished into hazy memory, but there’s still news to deliver.
In 2019, Novotney and business partner Erika Donaghy launched Ledenews.com, an online-only community news site for Wheeling and dozens of surrounding Rust Belt hamlets that dot the Ohio Valley.
