Meghan Quicke in West Stockholm took a series of pictures of a fresh litter of foxes she spotted on her property recently. ‘She was walking around the back of our property and noticed them. There s been a pile of old lumber there for years (prior to us) and they made a lovely home of it. There seems to be a total of 6-8 of them,’ said her husband Chad Quicke who submitted Meghan’s pictures to North Country This Week. Photo submitted by Chad Quicke.

OGDENSBURG – Ogdensburg Mayor Jeffrey M. Skelly says he plans to vote against the library budget proposition in May, but says he will ensure the library stays open regardless of the outcome.
The mayor has come under criticism from the public for not supporting the library’s attempt to secure an additional $225,000 through a proposition attached to the school budget. The mayor says his problem isn’t with the library itself, but how it’s been managed.
If the proposition fails, the mayor says he will ask the executive director and all members of the library board to resign. If it passes, he says that means people have made their choice to support the library’s current direction.

CANTON The Canton village board has approved the $6.5 million 2021-22 budget, and the new plan will feature a slight decrease in tax rate for village property owners of 1 cent per $1,000 of assessed property value.
However, the overall tax levy and general fund appropriations are expected to increase slightly.
The board approved the budget at its meeting April 21, following a public hearing on the plan.
Total appropriations for the village’s coming fiscal year (which starts June 1) are $6,576,076, versus the $6,641,909 budget for 2020-21. These total appropriations include appropriations for the general fund of $3,700,991 versus $3,694,453 in the current year.
