CANTON — The Canton village board has approved the $6.5 million 2021-22 budget, and the new plan will feature a slight decrease in tax rate for village property owners of 1 cent per $1,000 of assessed property value.
However, the overall tax levy and general fund appropriations are expected to increase slightly.
The board approved the budget at its meeting April 21, following a public hearing on the plan.
Total appropriations for the village’s coming fiscal year (which starts June 1) are $6,576,076, versus the $6,641,909 budget for 2020-21. These total appropriations include appropriations for the general fund of $3,700,991 versus $3,694,453 in the current year.
