The grant is meant to help restaurants and entertainment venues that have been affected by COVID-19. This is the second round of grants, and any restaurants or entertainment centers that have not previously applied are eligible. So far, just 960 out of the eligible 3,400 restaurants and bars across the state have been awarded grants. That leaves many more eligible for the remaining $30 million dollars.

KBHB Radio - USDA grants farm labor travel exemption from South African

USDA grants farm labor travel exemption from South African SD Ag ConnectionFebruary 1, 2021Agriculture News MPR Photo by Annie BaxterNative South African Brynmor Vanschoor has been coming to the United States for more than a decade to work. WASHINGTON, DC – The American Farm Bureau Federation asked the Biden administration to exempt farm labor from its recent proclamation suspending travel from several countries due to COVID-19 concerns. The ban includes guest workers from South Africa. The State Department agreed last week to give H-2A workers from South Africa an exemption from the U.S. travel ban taking effect on Saturday. The national interest exemption will also apply to some H-2B visa holders who work in food processing and other areas of the food supply chain. The travel ban is intended to curb the spread of a COVID-19 strain that was found in South Africa.
