Rochesterfest medallion has been found

Created: June 22, 2021 07:11 PM (ABC 6 News) - The Rochesterfest treasure has been found. Over the noon hour Tuesday, the special acrylic medallion was found by the entire Van Ert family in southeast Rochester. It took Rhys Van Ert and his family four clues to decipher this year’s Treasure location, on the east side of the foot bridge in Alex P. Smetka park, just north of Willow Creek Middle School.  Smetka was mayor of Rochester from 1958 to 1969 and again from 1973 to 1979. Van Ert’s father Rick described this as the fourth or fifth year that the entire family gathered to read, decipher, and hunt for the Treasure, and is actually the second time one of their brood was the lucky finder.  Daughter Josephine found the Treasure in 2019 in Northern Heights Park near Churchill School in northeast Rochester.
