Jail for thug who hacked at man s leg with machete like Rambo

© Darrell Benns/DCT Media Aberdeen Sheriff Court. A thug who “chopped up a kid’s leg like Rambo” in a row over money has been jailed for four-and-a-half years. Adam Oakes, known as Roberts, previously pled guilty to assaulting a man, 22, with a machete when he appeared at Aberdeen Sheriff Court via video link from HMP Grampian. The court heard Roberts, 29, went on a knife-wielding rampage after £600 of his cash went missing from a third man’s house on North Anderson Drive on June 17. Sentence had been deferred for reports but Roberts has now appeared back in court, where Sheriff Graham Buchanan handed him an extended sentence with four-and-a-half years in prison and a further two years on licence.

The alarm was raised at 9.10pm and appliances from North Anderson Drive, Altens and Central were sent to the scene on Old Stonehaven Road in Nigg. A fire spokeswoman said an aerial vehicle is also in use and the building is derelict. She said “the whole building is involved in the fire” and two jets are currently in use. More to follow. It has been out-of-use for more than five years and is owned by Aberdeen City Council. Four appliances were called out to the incident at about 9.10pm after nearby neighbours reported seeing flames shooting out of the building.

Four appliances were called out to Old Stonehaven Road in Nigg at about 9.10pm. An aerial vehicle and two main jets were used by the firefighters to extinguish the blaze, which enveloped the entire building. Derelict building fire in Nigg. An investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
