Synopsis
Bhagwat defended the controversial Citizenship Amendment Act and said every country had the right to know who its citizens were.
RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat has alleged there were ‘planned efforts’ to increase the Muslim population in India since 1930. His remarks on Eid al-Adha, while at a book launch in Guwahati, comes close on the heels of population control measures announced by BJP-ruled Uttar Pradesh and Assam.
“It was a planned idea to increase the population, establish dominance, supremacy and make this country Pakistan. It was about Punjab and Sindh then; Assam and Bengal are critical now. Pakistan did not get what it wanted. It didn t get Assam, it got only half of Bengal and Punjab …After Partition we took care of our minorities even though Pakistan did not.”
