Gag order imposed on buggery case; 4 more accused granted bail

Loop News A gag order has been imposed on the case of a 13-year-old girl who was allegedly buggered by six males in St Ann last month. The decision was made by Senior Parish Judge, Vaughn Facey, when the case was mentioned in the St Ann Parish Court on Tuesday. A gag order means that persons, including the accused and their attorneys, who are involved in the matter, are not allowed to discuss the case publicly. The accused, including two boys aged 16 years, along with three men aged 18, 20 and 23, have all been charged with buggery and grievous sexual assault. A sixth male was slapped with similar charges stemming from the incident, and brought before the court last Friday. He subsequently remanded, along with three other accused.

The 20-year-old accused has been charged with both buggery and grievous sexual assault. His identity is being withheld by the police because of the sensitive nature of the case. The matter was to be mentioned in court on Monday, but it was pushed back a day later for a decision to be taken on whether the accused was to be released on bond. In addition to offering the farmer bail, Senior Parish Judge, Vaughn Facey, ordered that he should reside in another parish, and he is only to return to St Ann for the purpose of attending court. Additionally, he has been ordered to stay away from children.

St Ann church leader, 2 members fined $300,000 each for COVID breaches

Apostle Christene McLean Apostle Christene McLean, the St Ann clergywoman who was charged after allegedly hosting a church service in breach of COVID-19 protocols in March of this year, has been fined a total of just over $300,000 in court. She pleaded guilty to two counts of breaching the Disaster Risk Management Act (DRMA) when she appeared in the St Ann Parish Court on Tuesday. Senior Parish Judge, Vaughn Facey, fined McLean $150,000 on each count, with an alternative of six months in prison. Winston McCoy and Phillipa Gordon, two members of McLean s City of Refuge EndTime Prophetic Ministries Church in St Ann’s Bay, also pleaded guilty to two counts of breaching the DRMA.
