WAUKESHA COUNTY, WI Waukesha West High School in Waukesha has been named one of the best high schools in the United States, according to a new ranking by U.S. News and World Report.
This year s list ranks more than 17,800 public high schools throughout the country.
Among those schools, Waukesha West High, Waukesha School District, was ranked 1,579.

Water main breaks at 74th and Layton, Greenfield
GREENFIELD, Wis. - Greenfield police urge drivers to avoid the area of 74th and Layton Avenue on Friday afternoon, April 16.
In a Facebook post, they say what started as a fire hydrant annihilation quickly turned into two water main breaks.
76th and Layton Avenue is a very busy intersection and the water main breaks are impacting traffic in the area.

Police: Man arrested after search warrant executed in Oak Creek

OAK CREEK, Wis. - The Milwaukee Police Department Special Investigation Division executed a residential search warrant in Oak Creek on Thursday, April 15 resulting in a man s arrest.
The warrant was executed near 20th and Rawson regarding illegal possession of firearms.
Officers recovered four pistols, two rifles, body army, gun parts and ammunition from the residence.
Criminal charges will be referred to the Milwaukee County District Attorney s Office in the coming days. The man is suspected of six counts of possession of a firearm by a felon.
Multiple agencies investigate bomb threat at Waukesha West HS

WAUKESHA, Wis. - Officials are investigating an anonymous bomb threat made to the principal at Waukesha West High School around 10 a.m. Friday, the school district announced.
The threat noted a specific classroom and time of day and the school s administration and resource officer initiated an evacuation of the building, according to a release.
The Waukesha Police and Fire Departments responded for a sweep of the building. The Waukesha Police Department reached out to the Milwaukee Police Department and the Milwaukee County Sheriff s Office to have bomb dogs search the specified area contained within the anonymous threat, a release said.
