Labuan Acting Police Chief DSP Mohd Ibrahim Mohd Ghani said an investigation had been launched on all angles to solve the sensitive issue. “We are concerned about the report made regarding the posting on the social media platform which touches on the sensitivity of Muslims,” he said, Sunday. Labuan Acting Police Chief DSP Mohd Ibrahim Mohd Ghani (pic) said this would include taking action against any individuals or groups who use social media to spread inaccurate information on the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme. “We will monitor the spread of inaccurate information with regard to this vaccination programme, and if there is a police report lodged, we will take immediate action against those involved,” he said at the Labuan Ferry Terminal after the arrival of the first batch of Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine from Kota Kinabalu, Friday.

After the Kimanis 1 ferry docked at the terminal jetty about 9.50am, DHL Express workers were seen unloading the vaccines from a van into a waiting truck under the watchful eyes of a Labuan police force unit. The vaccines were transported by road from Kota Kinabalu for 155km and ferried to Labuan, with escort from patrol boats of marine police and the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA). ADVERTISEMENT The vaccines were then transferred to the vaccine storage centre at the Labuan Hospital under the care of Labuan police.

Labuan Acting Police Chief DSP Mohd Ibrahim Mohd Ghani said the vaccine would be transported by road from Kota Kinabalu and ferried to the duty-free island via the Menumbok ferry terminal at 8am. “We expect the vaccine to arrive at the Labuan Ferry Terminal around 9.30am, and it will be escorted by traffic policemen to the vaccine storage centre at the Membedai Health Clinic,” he said, Thursday. ADVERTISEMENT The Labuan Health Department has established at least three vaccination centres for Labuan s immunisation programme, which is scheduled to kick off tomorrow (Saturday) at 8am.
