Modi reaches out to weaker sections at Bengal rally

KOLKATA: In an effort to reach out to the Scheduled Castes and Matuas that constitute more than 15 percent of the electorate of the state, Prime Minister Narendra Modi assured justice to all refugees, Matua and Namasudra and at the same time criticised the Trinamool Congress for equating them with beggars.
Speaking at a rally in Matua-dominated Kalyani in Nadia district Modi said, Didi did not like my going to Orakandi in Bangladesh where the founder of the Matua sect and social reformer Harichand Thakur was born. She raised questions over my visit.I have come to assure you today that all refugees will get all facilities due to them, they will get justice. For the BJP, providing justice to all refugees, Matua and Namasudra brothers, is also an emotional commitment.
Punjab education secretary lends personal touch to school enrolement drive

PATIALA: Education Secretary, Krishan Kumar, has not only lent new dimension but also come forward to give personal touch to the Enrollment Drive currently underway in Punjab. NAIROBI: More than 1.4 million Kenyans are at risk of hunger, starvation and potentially face acute food insecurity, a government official warned on Thursday.Cyrus Oguna, the spokesperson for the government of Kenya, told a media briefing in Nairobi that the country is committed to ensuring that no Kenyan dies from lack of food as a result of the looming drought, the Xinhua news agency reported. The government assures Kenyans that the situation is firmly under control and that there should be no cause to panic. As a country, we have enough food stocks to support the population, Oguna said. The national government in collaboration with county governments of the affected counties has initiated interventions, which includes close monitoring of areas that may be threatened for an immediate response.
