Police investigating man shot while driving on roadway

LOWELL, Mass. (AP) A man was shot while driving on a roadway Wednesday night in Lowell, police said.
He managed to drive himself to a convenience store at a gas station around 10:15 p.m. where he said he had been shot while driving, the Massachusetts State Police said in a statement.
The man was taken to Lowell General Hospital and then to Tufts Medical Center in Boston for treatment and information about his condition was not immediately known.
The police said they shutdown the Lowell Connector, which runs southwest from the city to Interstate 495, to search for evidence and also examined the man s vehicle. Police did not release the man s name.
Victim goes to gas station for help after being shot while driving on highway
LOWELL, Massachusetts (WCVB) Police are investigating after a man was shot while driving on a highway in Lowell.
The incident happened just before 10 p.m. on the Lowell Connector, officials said. The victim drove himself to the XtraMart on Gorham Street.
“He came off the highway and stopped in front of my house. The SUV, it already had the drive’s side windshield, you know, broken. It was shot,” witness Paulo Santos said.
The victim, who was not identified, was taken to Lowell General Hospital and then to Tufts Medical Center in Boston.

CHELMSFORD A police officer made a splash on Sunday, coming to the aid of two distressed young swimmers, with the help of a bystander at Freeman Lake.
Chelmsford police posted on Twitter, “At approximately 4:30 p.m., [May 23,] Officer Derek Hill was conducting a foot patrol of Varney Park and the town beach located on Freeman Lake.

In a press release, Police Chief James Spinney said, Hill saw someone yelling that someone was drowning and pointing towards the water.
Hill made his way to the shore and saw multiple people flailing in the water approximately 30 to 35 feet from shore.
