But what does their day look like? It starts at 6 a.m. and ends when the public’s questions are answered, and everyone is safe. “We re just trying to get that information about the buyer out there because we know that the public is being affected and we want to make sure that they have as much information as they need,” Alison Batchelder, public information officer for F CAIIM Team 15 and a firefighter, said.

Community urged to pre-plan as Granite Complex firefighting continues MTN News and last updated 2021-07-23 23:26:30-04 LOLO — A community meeting regarding the Granite Pass Complex fire welcomed a concerned crowd Friday night, online and in person at Lolo Elementary School. Firefighters and local authorities presented information on the fire that began on July 12th from a lightning strike. The Granite Pass Complex consists of four fires, and the combined fire acreage is now at 2,375 acres with 1% containment. At this time, the top priority is keeping the fire from impacting Highway 12. Friday night, fire crews told the audience that the workload is “huge” for the mere 150 people that have been assigned to the fire.

Idaho Fires Deliver The Smoke to Bitterroot Wednesday night, the 3,500-acre Storm Creek Fire sent an extra helping of smoke into the Victor area of the Bitterroot Valley. Residents thought there was a fire close by. The Ravalli County Sheriff s Office checked with forest officials and reported the smoke was from the Storm Creek Fire, the largest fire in the Powell Ranger District in the Selway-Bitterroot. The Storm Creek Fire is about 4 miles west of the Montana-Idaho border (see map above) and Mike Martin of the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forest said the wilderness fire has the potential for more growth. The area around the fire is closed on the east side from North Fork of Storm Creek to the Montana-Idaho border and south along the border to Trail 50.
