NAU Women Fall To Idaho In The Big Sky Quarterfinals
The NAU women’s basketball team fell down by 17 points at halftime and couldn’t recover as they fell to the second-seeded Idaho Vandals, 67-53 in the quarterfinals of the Big Sky Conference Tournament in Boise, Idaho. NAU scored just five points and missed 13 straight field goal attempts in the second quarter. Regan Schenck led the Jacks with 12 points and Jacey Bailey had eight points and nine rebounds in the loss. NAU did cut the Idaho lead to ten early in the fourth quarters, but Idaho went on a run and quickly increased their lead to 19 and the Lumberjacks couldn’t recover. NAU head coach Loree Payne says, “we were just never able to get back into it. I’m super proud of the kids for bouncing back, we struggled putting the ball in the basket in the first half. That was a big challenge to get out of a hole against a really good team.”
