TAMPA, Fla. – Management at a Tampa-area zoo revealed that 12 of its stingray residents have died and teams are still determining the cause.
In a Facebook post Friday, ZooTampa at Lowery Park wrote, “it’s with heavy hearts we share that today ZooTampa lost 12 residents of Stingray Bay.”

The post went on to say animal care and veterinary teams are examining all the mechanical equipment involved in the salt water tank and testing the water. The initial tests indicate “optimal water quality and conditions.”

TAMPA, Fla. - Thousands of tadpoles got a one-way ticket from Tampa to the Caribbean last week. It is an effort by ZooTampa at Lowery Park to help save a species nearly 1,200 miles away.
Inside an isolated building at ZooTampa a team is helping Puerto Rico’s only native toad bounce back from the edge of extinction. These guys are a threatened or endangered species in Puerto Rico due to habitat loss, climate change, and invasive species, explained ZooTampa associate curator of reptiles and aquatics, Dan Costell.
Good Samaritan rocks flaming boat toward firefighters at Lowry Park
He used the wake from his personal watercraft to direct the floating boat away from riverfront docks and into the spray from an engineâs firehoses.

TAMPA â A few trees were singed, some bushes burned and a boat was charred beyond recognition, but no one was injured and no structures damaged when a large boat caught fire along the Hillsborough River at Lowry Park, Tampa firefighters said.
