Bangs ag mechanics team will compete in nationals after state win

BANGS The night before the April 30 state competition, a Briggs and Stratton small-engine manual was among reading material for Bangs High School’s four students on the FFA ag mechanics team,
Sequestered in a hotel, team members Keygan Pitts, a sophomore, and juniors Jackson Light, Robert Blakeley and Logan Bishop stayed up late reviewing manuals on small engines, boom sprayers and DC electrical wiring.
The night of studying capped off months of earlier preparation, and the Bangs team went on to win the ag mechanics state championship competition at Sam Houston State University. The Bangs team was one of 31 competing.
The Bangs FFA Ag Mechanics team competed this past weekend at the State Ag Mechanics contest in Huntsville TX, and finished the contest as State Champions out of 31 teams competing, qualifying them for the National Ag Mech contest this coming fall.
Out of 121 Individuals, Logan Bishop finished the contest as High Point Individual, Keygan Pitts was 3rd high individual, Jackson Light was 4th high, and Robert Blakeley was 5th high.
Also, the Bangs FFA Farm Business Management team competed last week in the Virtual FBM contest through SHSU. Out of 57 teams competing, Bangs finished 5
th. Also, out of 216 individuals competing, Rylan Cates finished 9th high, Wyatt Lykins was 20th, and Landon Rivas was 28

The Tomahawk Hatchet boys Swimming Team competed in the WIAA Sectional Meet on Saturday at Rhinelander High School. Tomahawk finished in fifth place. Rhinelander won the meet and Menomonie was second.
Of the 13 individual event swims that the Hatchets competed in, 11 of them were either personal best or at the very least season best swim times, 1 was a re-broken school record, and 2 were overall 2nd place finishes with times solid enough to qualify for the WIAA State Swim Meet, next Friday Feb. 5, 2021 to be held at the Waukesha South High School Natatorium.
Of the 3 relays that the Hatchets competed in, all three registered considerable season time drops with a 3rd place finish for the Medley Relay and a pair of 5th s for the Freestyle Relay teams.
