The sprinting pooch ran a blistering anchor leg in the 4X200 meter relay and nearly tripped her two-legged competition.
A sprinting dog joined a high school relay race in Logan, Utah, and unleashed a come-from-behind victory.
The dog scampered down a grassy bank and began to overtake human runners in the last leg of the 4X200 relay. But as the crowd cheered, the pooch still had a long gap before catching lead runner Gracie Laney of Logan High School.
No problem. The little four-legger accelerated and passed Laney near the finish, almost tripping her.
ROY âEDDIEâ DINGESS, 62, of North Fork, Chapmanville, W.Va., formerly of Mud Fork, Logan, W.Va., departed this life Sunday, April 11, 2021, from his residence. Born June 8, 1968, at Holden, W.Va., he was the son of the late Pete and Pearl Dingess of Lake, W.Va., formerly of Mud Fork, Logan, W.Va. He was a 1976 graduate of Logan High School. Eddie had worked at Master Machine & Hydraulics, drove a coal truck, and was a mechanic and equipment operator over the years. He also coached his sonâs basketball, T-ball and Little League teams. Eddie was also an avid dirt bike enthusiast. He loved watching his sons ride and race dirt bikes as well as play sports. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, neighbor and friend to many. Eddie is survived by three sons, Jason Roy Dingess of Ely, Nev., Jeremy Lee Dingess and Easton Jace Stowers, both of North Fork, Chapmanville, W.Va.; two sisters, Gayle Dingess and Barbara (David) Runyon, all of Lake, W.Va.; his grandchildr
Each week I try to write about something that I hope is worth reading. And, although I mostly like to feature writings of some historical value, sometimes I get a little left of center, so to speak, and today just might be one of those days. Perhaps we should begin with this newspaper. I do not know the actual circulation of The Logan Banner, Williamson Daily News or Coal Valley News, all of which my writings appear in weekly. What I do know is that there must be many people across the country who read the newspapers via the internet because I hear from a good many of them, some of whom reach out to me through Facebook, some by email, some by regular mail, and others by telephone.
