Newton Falls council delays committee, board appointments | News, Sports, Jobs

bcoupland@tribtoday.com NEWTON FALLS Village council usually makes appointments to committees and boards during its organizational meeting, but several questions and concerns forced a postponement Monday until Jan. 21. Third Ward Councilwoman Tesa Spletzer said she would be willing to sit on the various boards and committees where former councilman Lyle Waddell had served. “I am willing to take all the committees and positions Mr. Waddell had and until we get a final ruling from the judge on the 21st. It would probably be a good idea to keep me in there,” Spletzer said. She and other members of council noted that on Jan. 21 a judge is scheduled to hear Waddell’s case on who should serve in the 3rd Ward seat. It was suggested waiting until after that decision that same day before making any appointments.

Election losers should move on | News, Sports, Jobs

Losing is hard and for some in politics, accepting defeat is impossible. Outgoing President Donald Trump, and many of his supporters, refuse to accept the fact that he lost to Democrat Joe Biden. Trump continues to tweet falsehoods (to be polite) to outright lies (to be accurate) about the election such as this Tuesday in all capital letters: “THE DEMOCRATS DUMPED HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF BALLOTS IN THE SWING STATES LATE IN THE EVENING. IT WAS A RIGGED ELECTION!!” A day later he claimed there was “massive voter fraud,” and “this was the most corrupt election in the history of our country.”
