Seven stores affected
The Liberian Business Association (LIBA) has expressed serious concern about the fire disaster incident that affected seven businesses or stores in the commercial City of Ganta, Nimba County.
According to LIBA’ president, James Strother, the unfortunate fire incident occurred yesterday, Monday, May 17, 2021 on the Guinea road vicinity in Ganta City, which has huge Liberian and other businesses that are operating there.
He mentioned that four of the seven stores are owned by women, while three stores that were affected are for men who are noted for working tirelessly to stimulate the local economy in Ganta City.

The government has honored the former India Honorary Consul General to Liberia, Upjit Singh Sachdeva, for his “distinguished service and unwavering commitment” in promoting the interest of the country during his time of service.
The government’s gesture, which was carried out by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, took place over the weekend, less than three months after India recalled Sachdeva from his Honorary Consul general post to pave way for the establishment of an official Indian diplomatic mission in Liberia.

The citation states that from 1995 to 1999, Dr. Sachdeva, as President of the Association of Indian Community in Liberia, infused new dynamism into business and cultural exchange between Liberian and Indian residents.
MONROVIA – The Government of Liberia (GOL), through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has bestowed one of the country’s highest honors on the former Indian Honorary Consul General to Liberia, Dr. Upjit Singh Sachdeva, for his “active” and immense contributions towards humanity and the socio-economic development of Liberia and its citizens.
