Liberia: Somalia Drive Poised for Dedication; To be Renamed Japan Freeway

Monrovia – The visiting Japanese Ambassador accredited to Liberia, His Excellency HIMENO Tsutomu, has disclosed that work on the Somalia Drive, soon to be renamed the ‘Japan Freeway’ is expected to be completed in May 2021.
The Japanese Envoy indicated that His Government is very pleased with progress being made thus far and the level of knowledge transfer to the local engineer, who are prepared to carry out retain maintenance.
According to a Foreign Ministry release, Ambassador Tsutomu made these remarks when he paid a courtesy call on the Liberian Foreign Minister, Ambassador Dee-Maxwell Saah Kemayah, Sr., on Tuesday, March 2, 2021.

Monrovia – Liberian Foreign Minister Dee-Maxwell Saah Kemayah, Sr., has assured Guinean President His Excellency Alpha Conde of President George M. Weah’s commitment to strengthening socio-economic ties with its northern neighbor, through the implementation of tangible bilateral projects such as the rail link between Liberia and Guinea.
Minister Kemayah made the remark when a high-powered Liberian delegation, which was dispatched by President Weah to Guinea, held talks with President Condé on Friday, February 19, 2021.
Minister Kemayah also assured the Guinean leader that Liberia will leave no stone unturned in ensuring a timely implementation of the agreement signed by the two Presidents in October 2019.

PAYNESVILLE – Following a guarded tour of ongoing works at the Liberia Broadcasting System (LBS) along with Chinese Ambassador Mr. Ren Yisheng, Liberia’s Foreign Minister H.E. Dee – Maxwell Saah Kemayah, Sr., said he is very much impressed by the progress being made on the project with support from the Chinese counterparts.
“I’m very much pleased with what we’re seeing at LBS. There are things that I am seeing here that, though I have been coming here before, but as Minister of Foreign Affairs, this is my first visit,” he said at the climax of the tour Tuesday, February 9, 2021 during an interview at the LBS Compound in Paynesville.

The Foreign Minister of Liberia, Ambassador Dee-Maxwell Saah Kemayah, Sr. has underscored the need for an urgent institutional reform at the AU, given the role the organization is expected to play in driving the vision of inclusive economic growth and development Africa.
Minister Kemayah said Africa needs a commission that will transition to a high performing, efficient and effective organization that is able to deliver on agreed continental priorities and attract and retain the best quality staff at all levels, noting that a strong accountability and performance based framework cannot be overly emphasized.

MONROVIA – The Liberia Baptist Theological Seminary (LBTS) has appointed Mr. Dee-Maxwell Kemayah who is also Liberia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs as its Chairman of the Board of Trustees, with a promise to “our provide leadership as the first among equal to use the core value which I created since 1978”.
