Consolidated Group, NCHE Sign MOU to Support Inter-university Debate

The Consolidated Group Incorporated (CGI), service provider of DSTV in Liberia and the National Commission on Higher Education (NCHE) on Wednesday, April 21, signed a three- year memorandum of understanding (MOU) to support inter-university debate among students, especially at the first degree level. The ceremony which took place at the NCHE office located at S.D. Cooper Road in Paynesville, outside Monrovia, was graced by staff of the CGI, USAID representative and a host of NCHE employees. Rev. James Andrew Lablah, acting Director General of the NCHE, said the MOU is very essential because it will add value to several institutions.

The Liberian Foreign Minister said he crafted a core value of Transparency, Equity, Accountability, Client and Hard Work which he puts as “TEACH” and said this has guided him throughout his life

NCHE Outlines Achievements for 2020′

A senior staff of the National Commission on Higher Education (NCHE) has disclosed that despite the challenges limiting the performance of the commission for which its presence may not be felt in the public sapce, it made some strides in 2020 in line with its obligation. James Andrew Lablah, Director of Quality Assurance (QA) at NCHE, said in the year under review, the commission drafted its first ever “Licensing Policy” which was endorsed by the Board of Commissioners for the first time since the establishment of the NCHE in 1989. The policy specifies standards for licensing and accrediting higher education institutions in Liberia. In past times, the NCHE had only operated on “frameworks” and “guidelines”. About 200 copies of the policy have been produced, pending launching by President George M. Weah.
