Greylock Insurance Agency announces six promotions
PITTSFIELD, MA (May 18, 2021) Greylock Insurance Agency (GIA) has promoted six employees within the agency: Lori Goodell, Jay Marion, Julie Dieterich, Mary Benjamin, Nicole Sage and Hailey Lareau. Michael Stoddard, Greylock Federal Credit Union’s Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer announced the promotions Friday morning. Stoddard serves as the President of Greylock Financial and Insurance Services, LLC (which is a credit union service organization under Greylock Federal Credit Union) that operates Greylock Insurance Agency.
Goodell has been promoted to Senior Vice President, Agency Manager. She will oversee all agency matters and will report directly to Stoddard. She joined GIA in March 2005 as an Insurance Services Officer. Goodell was promoted to Assistant Vice President, Sales Manager in 2009 and then to Vice President, Personal Lines in 2016.
Almost 60 percent of Berkshire County residents have had at least one dose of the vaccine, according to the latest state data, as eligibility expands to include children as young as 12.
Nearly 90 percent of people aged 70 and older have gotten at least one shot, along with 82 percent of 60- to 69-year-olds and 71 percent of 50- to 59-year-olds. The rate drops to 56 percent for people ages 20 to 50, the age group that became eligible less than a month ago.
The stateâs data reflects vaccinations reported as of Tuesday.
Vaccination rates for Black and Hispanic residents continue to lag behind white residents, according to the data. Fifty-seven percent of white residents in the county have been vaccinated, compared to 37 percent of Black residents and 44 percent of Hispanic residents. The county remains behind the state average in vaccinating Black residents but has leaped ahead in its rate for Hispanic residents.
Opioid overdose deaths in Berkshire County jumped by 44 percent last year, to the highest level recorded, amid a slight increase in fatal overdoses statewide.
Public health officials announced Wednesday that opioid-related overdose deaths in Massachusetts rose by 5 percent in 2020, the first increase in three years.
In a year marked by the COVID-19 pandemic and the challenges it created in accessing health care and social supports, the state recorded 2,104 confirmed and estimated deaths, about the same number of fatalities as the epidemic s 2016 peak.
The toll of the pandemic for people with opioid use disorder was particularly stark in the Berkshires, which had the second-highest rate of increase in the state. Fatal overdoses in Berkshire County rose from 39 in 2019 to 56 last year, according to the preliminary data.
