MEDINA TWP. Divers from the Lenawee County Sheriff s Office and Michigan State Police recovered the body of a Hudson man who fell through the ice Friday on Durfee Lake in Medina Township.
Damion Moog s body was found at 10:42 a.m., according to a news release from the Lenawee County Sheriff s Office.
The 22-year-old was with three friends when they all fell through the ice. The others were able to get out of the water on their own.
First responders were first alerted to the incident around 7 p.m. Friday.
The four friends walked out onto the ice on Durfee Lake Friday night to check if it was safe for ice fishing the next day, a news release issued Saturday by the sheriff s office said.

ROLLIN TWP. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the death of an ice fisherman who was inside a shanty when it was struck by a snowmobile on Devils Lake.
According to Lt. Todd Szyska, Michigan Department of Natural Resources law enforcement supervisor in southeast Michigan, emergency personnel were dispatched at 7:23 p.m. Saturday to the south end of Devils Lake with information about a snowmobile that crashed into an ice fishing shanty, dispatching DNR officers and a unit with the Lenawee County Sheriff’s Office to the scene.
Szyska said when officers arrived, they saw debris all over the ice from the ice shanty and found a 28-year-old Jerome man who had been inside the shanty, lying unconscious within the debris.
Elderly Ohio Man Found Frozen to Death in Pond near His Home

A 76-year-old Ohio man was found dead in a pond near his house, according to police.
The body of the man, who has not yet been named, was discovered frozen in a small landscaping pond at his home in Vermilion, a city in Erie and Lorain counties. He was found after a neighbor asked the police to carry out a welfare check at the property on Tuesday.
When Vermilion police arrived at the house, they found the man frozen with groceries near the scene.
