THE wonderful displays of daffodils in Rawdon, previously planted by the In-Bloomers, have been magnificent but are more or less over now. So Rawdon-in-Bloom volunteers have been out creating another rockery to beautify the village of Rawdon. This rockery is at the junction of Layton Road/Layton Avenue at the entrance to the village from Horsforth and incorporates a Rawdon sign post, hand made by one of the group. It is planned to replicate the planting scheme used at the previously created rockery in the village opposite the Emmott Arms. The team has had additional assistance from Meryl Frazer, who is working with the group as part of her Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme. She has already been helping the group by potting up plants for the group’s summer planting scheme.

On a Friday afternoon at the Muslim Community and Health Center of Wisconsin (MCHC), the mood is light as patients come into the clinic to get their COVID-19 vaccine. As Muslims continue to observe the holy month of Ramadan, leaders in Milwaukee’s Muslim community have been encouraging people to get the COVID-19 vaccine.
Arman Tahir is the director of operations for the MCHC. He says before Ramadan began, some members of the Muslim community had questions about getting the COVID-19 vaccine. During Ramadan vaccines are usually deferred until after the holy month is over, but because the two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine need to be given during a specific time frame, Tahir says it s important that everyone continue to get the vaccine.
