City officials in Meadowlakes and Marble Falls are discussing pool maintenance as the effects of a nationwide chlorine shortage reach the Highland Lakes. Sold in tablet and liquid form, chlorine acts as a pool disinfectant while also killing algae and maintaining a healthy pH balance for the water.

Improvements are being made to keep dirty wading pools cleaner at Lakeside Park in Marble Falls, including the purchase of a vacuum attachment for the city’s power washer, members of the Parks and Recreation Commission learned at their regular meeting May 3.
“This is our first spring to really be open, and I know there were some comments from the community, so I want to let you know what we’re doing,” Parks and Recreation Director Lacey Dingman told commissioners about the four, 2-foot-deep pools located along the beach area of the park at 305 Buena Vista Drive.

Spring Break is making a small comeback in Marble Falls. Canceled last year, the city will have at least one activity for students during the school holiday, which is March 15-19.
UPDATE: The city will screen the animated family-friendly movie “The Croods” at 7:45 p.m. Friday, March 19, at Johnson Park, 230 Avenue J South, said Marble Falls Parks and Recreation Director Lacey Dingman at a parks and recreation commission meeting March 1.
