Thunder Bay – SPORTS – Lakehead Thunderwolves Varsity Cross Country Running and Indoor Track Coach, Kip Sigsworth, announced that he is resigning from his position as head coach after 16 years in the position.
Kip was not only a long time coach of the team, but also an athlete from 1993 to 1997. During this time he was a 2 time OUA medalist in the 600m, and he still holds the school record for the mens’ 600m.
As a coach, he had accomplishments over his years including being named the 2012 OUA Men’s XC Coach of the Year, and the 2016 Team Canada Head Coach for the World University XC Championships. In his time here, he has coached 4 USport All-Canadians, 8 OUA All-Stars, 2 USport Medalists, and 5 OUA Medalists. He has also coached national champions at the U16, U18, and U20 levels, and 2nd place finisher in the Canadian Olympic Trials. The Lakehead Men’s XC team qualified for the USport XC Nationals four consecutive years, from 2012 to 2015
