State Police at Jamestown
KENNEDY A Falconer man, whose vehicle ended up in a ditch, is facing a number of charges.
State Police at Jamestown charged Blaydon Niles, 29, with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, driving while ability impaired by drugs and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation.
Troopers responded to Hartson Road in Kennedy on Friday for a report of a vehicle in the ditch. The driver and sole occupant, Niles, exhibited multiple signs of being impaired and was subsequently placed under arrest. Inside the truck a bottle containing Vicodin pills was located.
He was transported to Jamestown where he refused to be evaluated by a Drug Recognition Expert and to provide a blood sample. A check of Niles’ driving record revealed that his license was currently suspended.

Area residents and first responders helped local veteran Winston Frankson celebrate his 95th birthday with a parade Tuesday evening. Vehicles passed Frankson’s Garfield Road home shortly before 6 p.m. Among those taking part in the parade were members of the Busti Fire Department and Lakewood-Busti Police Department.

Several rabbits and eight goats died in a fire reported Thursday afternoon in the town of Busti.
Crews were called to Big Tree Road, near the New York-Pennsylvania state line, around 1:30 p.m. for a fire inside a double-wide garage.
Firefighters from Busti, Lakewood and Kiantone, along with county fire coordinators and Lakewood-Busti Police, responded to the fire. Flames and heavy smoke were spotted coming from the structure.
An investigation found that the blaze started due to combustible materials being in close proximity to an unattended wood stove, the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release. No injuries were reported.
