Betfred, Cornmarket A gambling addict jumped the counter at Betfred and demanded his money back after his bets failed to come off. Sonny Lindo, 36, was at the bookies in Cornmarket Street, Oxford, on December 1, 2019, when he placed a bet for £300. He lost the bet. Prosecutor Leigh Hart told Oxford Crown Court: “The defendant tried to place a second bet, however that was then out of time.” Notwithstanding he was out of time, he filled out a betting slip for £400 – but only handed over £300 in cash. The teller told Lindo he was £100 short. When the second bet failed to come in, Lindo – who was banned from the gambling shop – demanded £600. He jumped over the front desk and confronted the teller – who told him to ‘back off’ but gave him £300.
