Tracy got it right; too bad the city’s hired guns in Manteca are ‘pained’ by reality PERSPECTIVE Traffic jams the 100 block of North Main Street in Manteca.
Perhaps our sage bureaucratic leaders might want to invest a bit of time away from their planning textbooks and let go of their lust for how other cities look and actually do more than just “drive-by” evaluations of life in Manteca as if they were colonist elitists hell-bent to civilize the local populace they infer is about as backwards as they come.

COUNCIL HAVING SECOND THOUGHTS (AGAIN) ON WIDENING MAIN STREET After years of promising to improve Main Street traffic council may now shift money to Airport Way & make more of Main two lanes This photo shows a typical weekday afternoon for traffic backups on Main Street through downtown.
The siren song of converting much of Main Street to a two-lane thoroughfare apparently from Mission Ridge Drive to Lathrop Road and replacing traffic signals except for those in the actual downtown with roundabouts may kill a long-promised council project to eliminate Manteca’s biggest traffic tourniquet day in and day out.

MANTECA PLANS KEY ROAD ON ‘WRONG’ SIDE OF DRY LEEVEE Raymus Parkway being designed as Trojan horse for future conversion to expressway Raymus Parkway could go through the area between Peach Avenue (shown) and Fig Avenue east of Airport Way south of Manteca.
Apparently Manteca plans to build what could be a growth-inducing “parkway” in a 100-year floodplain where levees have failed 11 times since 1929.
That means if the levees fail along the Stanislaus and San Joaquin rivers south of Manteca as they have an average of once every 8½ years it would be at risk of being covered by floodwaters. The area in question was underwater in the 1997 floods.
