It’s not exactly musical breweries up here in Duluth, but it’s close.
In late 2019, Lake Superior Brewing, which had been Duluth’s oldest craft brewery (it was founded in 1994), shut down its West Duluth production facility. The following summer, Seth and Sarah Maxim, who have backgrounds in brewing and restaurants, bought the business. But they’re affixing the Lake Superior Brewing name to a new brewpub they’re opening on the other side of town in the Lakeside/Lester Park neighborhood. Meanwhile, the old Lake Superior facility is now home to brand-new company called Warrior Brewing.
Both breweries are working hard to be up and running this summer, when (we all hope) beer drinking will once again be a communal activity. Still, the Duluth area has plenty of established craft brewpubs and brewers, including well-known brands like Bent Paddle and Castle Danger. Is there room for two newcomers? Here’s how they plan to distinguish themselves.
Let s better serve the citizens of Duluth by keeping Lester Park open.

The city of Duluth recently announced that Lester Park Golf Course would close for the 2021 and 2022 seasons, reopen for the 2023 season while Enger Park Golf Course undergoes renovations, and then close for good after 2023.
With all due respect, there is a better solution: Start a Duluth public golf co-op.
A local example of this is the Hayward Golf Club, which is run by and owned by the Hayward Civic Club, a nonprofit. It appears to be a very well-run golf course and to make enough money to pay for capital improvements.

Heavy, wet snow that in some cases mixed with rain, fell much of Wednesday night across Northeastern Minnesota, leaving a late-winter mess to be shoveled and plowed.
The National Weather Service in Duluth reported 7 inches of snow as of 6 a.m. Thursday, with 11.6 inches in Pine River.
Most of the snow had moved east out of the area, although snow lingered in Minnesota’s Arrowhead region.
