By the end of March, Topeka will have its second operational Scooter s Coffee location.
According to franchisee Curt VanLaningham, who co-owns the new shop with business partner Randy Fair, the Scooter s being built at 3830 S.W. 29th St. is scheduled to officially open March 29.
The new Scooter s shop will likely hold a grand opening a few weeks after that, once the business is running smoothly, VanLaningham said. We re really excited to get this one open and serve a different part of Topeka, he said.
He and his business partner also own the Scooter s Coffee at 2909 S.W. Topeka Blvd., as well as several franchise locations in Nebraska. The other Topeka location opened in December 2019.
GCCC Campus Closet receives grant

Garden City Community College has been awarded a $5,000 grant from Lewis Toyota of Garden City to be used in support of GCCC’s Campus Closet, a service which offers items of need to students free of charge.
The Campus Closet, located in the Academic Building, provides students with needed items, such as personal and oral hygiene items, household goods, food, school supplies and more. This service is provided by GCCC employees and supported by Phi Theta Kappa, as part of the chapter’s Service and Leadership Hallmarks.
“The goal of the GCCC Campus Closet is to help our students in need.
