Monday’s Wood River City Council meeting saw more than an hour of public comment before two controversial topics were voted on. One was to resume spending on the Rec Center project, and the other was the appointment of a new board member.
Chris Stanley has moved out of the city and suggested he be replaced by Sonya Hagman. Councilman Tom Stalcup will be sworn in as mayor in a couple of weeks and voiced his displeasure at these items being on last night s agenda.

Hagman was approved by a 3-1 vote after Stalcup s motion to table died for lack of a second. In favor were councilmen Michael Anderson and Leroy Duncan joining Mayor Cheryl Maguire. The vote went the same way on the three items to restart spending on the Rec Center project: one approving the resumption of spending, another increasing the line item in the budget to do so, and another to execute the agreement with the state to receiv
