Additional forces, including 150 rapid striking contingents, have been deployed in hyper-sensitive parts of Penukonda, Hindupur and Madakasira areas of Penukonda revenue division, which is dominated by factionists. A tense situation is prevailing in several villages of Lepakshi, Roddam and Penukonda areas.

It was found that M. Ramu was declared elected from Ward No. 8 in Talamarla panchayat, which was reserved for women, because of the oversight of the Stage-1 Returning Officer, who had accepted the nomination papers as though it was a general category seat. The higher-level Returning Officers up to the MPDO too did not notice the gaffe.

The Lepakshi temple built on a low, rocky hill called Kurmasailam is one of the finest examples of the Vijayanagara architectural style. The temple which has the finest specimens of mural paintings of the Vijayanagara Kings was laid out in three sections in the tableau, the MukhaMandapa , the ArthaMandapa with GarbhaGriha , and the KalyanaMandapa . A spectacular idol of India s biggest monolithic Nandi is situated close to Lepakshi temple. In the outer enclosure, a mammoth Ganesha was hewn in stone and leaning against a rock. The rear portion of the tableau had a massive Naga with three coils and seven hoods forming a sheltering canopy over Shiva Lingam. (ANI)

The tableaux that rolled down on the Rajpath in New Delhi during celebrations of the 72nd Republic Day on Tuesday reflected India s cultural diversity and social and economic progress. Seventeen tableaux from Gujarat, Assam, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Uttarakhand, Chhattisgarh, Punjab, Tripura, West Bengal, Sikkim, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, National Capital Territory of Delhi and Ladakh were showcased at the parade, depicting the geographical and rich cultural diversity of the country. These tableaux included the vision for Ladakh to be carbon-neutral, the Sun Temple at Modhera in Mehsana district of Gujarat, Tea tribes of Assam, Shore Temple and other monuments of Pallava dynasty in Tamil Nadu.
