State: 46 more virus cases in UP, 2 new deaths | News, Sports, Jobs

For the Upper Peninsula, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services’ coronavirus website Wednesday had seven new confirmed positives in Menominee and Marquette counties; six in Gogebic County; five in Iron and Mackinac counties; four in Baraga County; three in Ontonagon County; two in Dickinson, Delta and Houghton counties; and one each in Schoolcraft, Luce and Keweenaw counties. Marquette and Baraga counties each had a new death.

Menominee County had 1,776 confirmed, 323 probable and 40 deaths. The deaths included confirmed and probable. State data Wednesday had seven new confirmed positives in Menominee County, two in Delta County and one in Schoolcraft County. State numbers are updated almost daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

Iron Mountain Daily News Local health officials Monday reported nine more confirmed COVID-19 positives in Dickinson County along with almost 50 recovered from the virus since its last update Thursday. In a Facebook post Monday morning, the Dickinson-Iron District Health Department also listed seven new positives and four recovered cases in Iron County. The agency had Dickinson County at 2,380 confirmed positives and 328 probable cases, with 2,460 recovered, 72 deaths and 176 cases still active. For Iron County, the DIDHD had 965 confirmed cases and 69 probables, with 907 recovered, 48 deaths and 79 active cases. Marinette County adds 18 virus cases, Florence a new death | News, Sports, Jobs

Wisconsin COVID-19 data Tuesday showed 18 new confirmed positives in Marinette County. In Florence County, local health officials reported a coronavirus-related death, its first fatal case in months. The person, who was not identified, was between 30 to 60 years old, the Florence County Health Department stated in a news release. No other information was provided to protect the family’s privacy. The FCHD added, “Public health officials strongly encourage all eligible individuals to receive a COVID-19 vaccine.” For the Upper Peninsula, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services’ coronavirus website Tuesday added 51 new confirmed positives: 10 in Marquette County; seven in Delta County; six in Houghton County; five in Baraga County; four in Menominee, Luce and Chippewa counties; three in Dickinson and Schoolcraft counties; two in Iron and Mackinac counties; and one in Ontonagon County. Delta County had the only new death in the region.

The deaths included confirmed and probable. State data Tuesday had seven new confirmed positives in Delta County, four in Menominee County and three in Schoolcraft County. The state also had a new death in Delta County, one more than the PHDMC’s tally.
