For The Daily Press ESCANABA Delta County has recorded another 21 more confirmed COVID-19 positives since Friday and Menominee County 12 new cases, data from local health officials showed. The Public Health of Delta and Menominee Counties website update Monday also listed seven new probable cases in Delta County, while Menominee County had one probable. Neither county had a new death. As of Monday, Delta County has had 3,247 confirmed positives, 647 probable and 87 deaths, according to PHDMC. Menominee County had 1,751 confirmed cases, 317 probable and 39 deaths. The deaths included confirmed and probable. State health data Monday showed 13 new confirmed COVID-19 positives in Delta County since its last update Saturday, while Menominee County had eight new cases.

Daily News staff Local health officials Monday reported nine more confirmed COVID-19 positives in Dickinson County and four in Iron County since its last update Friday. In a Facebook post Monday morning, the Dickinson-Iron District Health Department also listed two new probable cases in Dickinson County and 23 recovered cases, while Iron County had one probable and six recoveries. The agency had Dickinson County at 2,362 confirmed positives and 323 probable cases, with 2,406 recovered, 72 deaths and 207 cases still active. For Iron County, the DIDHD had 946 confirmed cases and 69 probables, with 903 recovered, 48 deaths and 64 active cases. For the Upper Peninsula, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services’ coronavirus website Monday added 66 new confirmed positives for the two-day period: 14 in Baraga County, 13 in Delta County, nine in Marquette County, eight in Menominee County, seven in Houghton County, four in Gogebic County, three in Dickinson and Iron countie

For the Upper Peninsula, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services’ coronavirus website Saturday listed 13 more confirmed positives in Delta County; seven in Marquette County; six in Dickinson County; four in Chippewa County; two in Houghton, Gogebic and Baraga counties; and one each in Menominee, Schoolcraft, Mackinac and Keweenaw counties. No new deaths were reported in the Upper Peninsula. Using only the state’s figures, the Upper Peninsula as of Saturday has had 19,143 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 411 deaths.

DIDHD to shift from giving shots off site for COVID-19 | News, Sports, Jobs

Daily News staff The Dickinson-Iron District Health Department plans in May to transition away from off-site mass COVID-19 vaccine clinics such as the Dickinson County Fairgrounds, citing a decrease in demand for shots. The reduced demand comes even as those contracting COVID-19 are increasingly younger in age, the DIDHD reported in a news release. “We are noticing a definite trend of a younger population being affected by COVID now compared to when the pandemic began,” the DIDHD stated. “Our senior population has the highest vaccine coverage and we have noticed a major decrease in the number of seniors with COVID infection.”
