Cuban-Americans Call for an End to the Country’s Dictatorship As Cubans take to the streets demanding freedom, expats in Orange County, Calif. are calling for an end to the country’s totalitarian dictatorship. “Information is hard to get out of Cuba [right] now,” Santiago Martin told The Epoch Times. “The government has shut down means of communication, shut down cellphone coverage, Internet.” Martin fled Cuba with his family in the 1960s, at the beginning of the communist regime. Today, communist ideologies continue under current Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel. Thousands of Cubans gathered July 11 in a number of cities to protest against human rights abuses, a lack of freedom, and a worsening economic situation in the communist-ruled country.
