Claire Keating and Sinéad Dore are primary school teachers from Limerick who have recently written and published a children mindfulness storybook called ‘Bea’s Ocean Commotion.’ Their aim is to help promote children s mental health and wellbeing.
With thirty years teaching experience between them and a passion for the importance of mindfulness. The teacher s vision to promote mental health and children’s well-being was the catalyst to create the ‘Breathe with Bea’ children s book series.
Sinéad says: “The first book in the series is titled ‘Beas Ocean Commotion.’ It is a book about friendship and dealing with worry. Our hope is that teachers will use the beautifully illustrated, rhyming story to engage children to connect and identify with the characters as a way of helping them express their feelings. Over the last five weeks I have been producing and presenting a new educational show on SPIN. It s been an opportunity to couple my love of education and teaching with the fantastic platform that is radio.
With the help of subject experts from Kilmartin Educational Services here in Limerick and lots of special guests including Professor of Immunology at Trinity College Dr. Luke O Neill, Author Stefanie Preissner, Gaeilgeóir and Sports Broadcaster Máire Treasa Ní Cheallaigh and most recently Aeronautical engineer Norah Patten, we have created a podcast series and online resource for secondary school students.

Seachtain na Gaeilge le Energia is an international Irish language festival and one of the biggest celebrations of our native language and culture that takes place each year in Ireland and in many other countries.
An important seachtain on the Irish calendar SNAG21 kicked off on Monday March 1 and will run until March 17- Lá Fhéile Pádraig. This celebration gives us all an opportunity to start using more Irish in our day to day lives.
This year there are lots of fantastic virtual free events taking place. From young students to adult learners there is something for everyone.

THE shortlist for this year s Choice Music Prize Irish Album of the Year 2020 was announced on Wednesday. For the first time since I can remember female acts dominate the finalists with a total of six nominees!
Among them Limerick’s own Denise Chaila who is hotly tipped to scoop the top prize. Denise’s Narolane colleagues and current band mates Godknows and Murli, are no strangers to the Choice Prize stage. In 2017 as the “Rusangano Family’ their debut album Let The Dead Bury The Dead, won the Album of the Year. It looks like our Limerick powerhouses could be in line to claim the title for a second time!
